Position Summary

 

Reporting to a Senior Engineer, the Solutions Engineer will be a member of the APLL Supply Chain Solutions group. The job duties for the Engineer include: Manage and lead cross-functional RFP response preparation teams for business development, operations improvements and consulting; Interface with customers, sales and operations and help operations with implementation of engineered solutions; Provide industry expertise in solution design and lead solution design efforts; Prepare and make customer presentations; Design innovative solutions to enhance operational productivity in various aspects of supply chains; Make sales calls, presentations and demos; Some travel required. 



Accountabilities:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Project management - manage and lead multiple large, complex projects at one time
  • Design and analyze supply chain solutions
  • Domestic and international supply chain consulting and logistics projects and solutions for customers
  • Present solutions to customers
  • Sell business solutions, both in consulting and in operations
  • Interface with customers, sales and operations
  • Help operations with implementation of engineered solutions, provides industry expertise in solution design and lead-solution design efforts
  • Prepare and make customer presentations
  • Design innovative solutions to enhance operational productivity in various aspects of supply chains
  • Make sales calls, presentations and demos
  • Some travel required


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, logistics, operations, management or transportation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years experience in one or more key functional areas: warehouse design, transportation management, distribution center management, 3PL, automated materials handling, decision support systems/technology.
Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Candidate ideally has operational and consulting experience.
  • Experience in international supply chain consulting and logistics preferred
  • Proven capability to sell business, both in consulting and in operations.
  • Proven capability to determine staffing requirements, storage requirements, material handling and warehouse processes.

  • Financial pricing and modeling.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong presentation preparation and delivery skills.

  • Ability to work in and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work interdependently and independently.

  • Proven project management skills with ability to manage and lead multiple large, complex projects at one time.

  • Experience in analysis and design of supply chain solutions.

  • Working knowledge in the principles of managerial finance (TVM concepts, NPV/IRR/EVA, understanding of financial statements, etc.).

  • Experience in international supply chain consulting and logistics preferred
