The Warehouse Team Leader performs all the duties and responsibilities of a Material Handler and in such manner as to set the example for others. 

 



Accountabilities:

 

Accountabilities

 This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Operates & inspects forklift trucks according to safety & maintenance instructions.
  • Completes inspection safety check daily.
  • Trains others on operation of forklift trucks with emphasis on safety measures.
  • Acts as backup to the Warehouse Supervisor as needed.
  • Sets an example for others.
  • Assists the supervisor in the coordination of shipping and receiving schedules, scheduling workloads, ensuring equipment and sanitation levels are safely and properly maintained.
  • Controls cycle counts.
  • Ensures efficient use of time and equipment, ensuring that the appropriate records are maintained and that tight inventory control and security is maintained.
  • Provides guidance, support, and direction to other employees in the performance of all duties.
  • Acts asconstant communication link between management and employees.
  • Maybe called upon to handle customers and carriers at different management levels.
  • Assists management in finding solutions to problem areas.
  • Encourages staff to participate in ASP Program by word and by example. Be active in the ASP program.
  • Performs other duties, projects, and assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to threeyearswork related experience to include equipment operation.
  • Two years Fork Truck/Tow motor operational/material handling skills required.
  • Some experience in lead position of any type.
  • Light data entry skills required.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must be familiar with distribution and warehouse procedures and know material handling functions.
  • Must be able to operate all warehouse equipment and be able to complete light data entry.
  • Must be a good communicator and motivator. Must be able to follow verbal and written communications/directions.
  • Familiar with warehouse management and operations including use of equipment and maintenance of same.
  • Must have attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention.
  • Must be action oriented.
